Dear Friends

Every year all the ministers and lay leaders of the Methodist Church meet in their Districts for a three day meeting, known as a Synod. It is a time of worship, prayer and bible study, fellowship and is a business meeting too. Although we at SPMC are part of Circuit 0101, it has been many decades since the Table Bay Circuit hosted Synod, and so we are very, very excited to be hosting Synod 2011. It will be held in Kensington, using the adjoining two properties of the Methodist and Anglican churches. It will be the very first Synod of our new Bishop Michelle Hansrod (who, despite the name, is a man), and so we want to make it a very special one for him. It will also be an important Synod as we will again be electing a new Presiding Bishop, and so simultaneous elections will be held all around the Connexion. A small planning team has already been meeting for some time, and we are determined that this will be a Synod that inspires the 250 or so lay-leader and minister delegates!

So watch this space - next year is going to be a busy one!
